Nearby and just yards away is the beach access and walks on the North Bay sea front. To the North are the beautifully coloured beach chalets and new beach management centre. Further on at the end of the bay is the Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary at Scalby and beyond is the footbridge leading onto the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast part of the Spectacular Cleveland Way. The Scalby Mills Hotel traditional public house and North Cliff Golf Course are also here.

Around the corner are walks through wooded Northstead Manor gardens, the North Bay Miniature Railway, the boating lake and Water Splash, the award winning Glasshouse Bistro in the park (which has themed and Jazz nights), and also the Japanese style gardens and boating lake at Peasholme Park in addition to the cafes on the North Bay Marine Drive.

Outside there is a bus stop with regular timetables for the short journey into Scarborough and beyond. A flat walk 1.5 miles to the south is Scarborough harbour, and the lively South Bay. The Spa and town centre are also minutes away by car or bus, where there are numerous attractions such as Scarborough's medieval castle, the Rotunda Geological Museum, Scarborough Art Gallery and artist studios. Alternatively there is taking in the spectacular scenery and architecture, or enjoying the many parks, visitor centers, cafes, restaurants shopping, culture and nightlife such as The Steven Joseph Theatre where Sir Alan Ayckbourn, who has been artistic director many years, premieres his plays.
